Mathematical programming models for scheduling locks in sequence

چکیده
We investigate the scheduling of series of consecutive locks. This setting occurs naturally along canals and waterways. We describe a problem that generalizes different models that have been studied in literature. Our contribution is to (i) provide two distinct mathematical programming formulations, and compare them empirically, (ii) show how these models allow for minimizing emission by having the speed of a ship as a decision variable, (iii) to compare, on realistic instances, the optimum solution found by solving the models with the outcome of a decentralized heuristic. 1998 ACM Subject Classification G.2.1 [Discrete Mathematics]: Combinatorics, G.2.3 [Discrete Mathematics]: Applications

Exact Mixed Integer Programming for Integrated Scheduling and Process Planning in Flexible Environment
This paper presented a mixed integer programming for integrated scheduling and process planning. The presented process plan included some orders with precedence relations similar to Multiple Traveling Salesman Problem (MTSP), which was categorized as an NP-hard problem. These types of problems are also called advanced planning because of simultaneously determining the appropriate sequence and m...
متن کاملA fuzzy multi-objective linear programming approach for solving a new multi-objective job shop scheduling with sequence-dependent setup times
This paper presents a new mathematical model for a bi-objective job shop scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup times that minimizes the weighted mean completion time and the weighted mean tardiness time. For solving this multi-objective model, we develop a fuzzy multi-objective linear programming (FMOLP) model. In this problem, a proposed FMOLP method is applied with respect to the o...
متن کاملVirtual manufacturing cells scheduling considering lotstreaming and sequence dependent setup times
In this paper, a new mathematical model for the problem of job scheduling in virtual manufacturing cells (VMC) is presented to minimizing the completion time of all jobs. Sequence dependent setup times of machines is considered and lot-streaming is possible. In Virtual manufacturing cells, each job has a different processing path and there is a set of machines for processing each operation. The...

This paper presents a new mixed-integer goal programming (MIGP) model for a parallel machine scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup times and release dates. Two objectives are considered in the model to minimize the total weighted flow time and the total weighted tardiness simultaneously. Due to the com-plexity of the above model and uncertainty involved in real-world scheduling probl...
متن کاملA heuristic approach for multi-stage sequence-dependent group scheduling problems
We present several heuristic algorithms based on tabu search for solving the multi-stage sequence-dependent group scheduling (SDGS) problem by considering minimization of makespan as the criterion. As the problem is recognized to be strongly NP-hard, several meta (tabu) search-based solution algorithms are developed to efficiently solve industry-size problem instances. Also, two different initi...
